Jobseekers, students and entrepreneurs join free Digital Garage brought to Swansea by local MP
Today, 50 people attended a Digital Garage training day brought to Swansea by local MP Torsten Bell. The free whole-day programme helped students and jobseekers develop vital digital skills and guided local businesses on how grow their presence online.
Mr Bell partnered with Google to bring the digital giant’s free skills training for UK adults to Swansea city centre. Over the last five years, the programme has trained over one million small businesses and individuals across more than 500 UK cities, towns and villages. In Swansea, participants received a full day of digital skills training in topics including digital marketing and boosting productivity with AI, as well as mentoring and networking sessions.
Mr Bell has urged anyone who missed out on today's Digital Training to make use of the UK Labour Government’s free AI training courses for adults, some of which take as little as 20 minutes or less to complete.
The event was opened by Mr Bell who said:
“Digital skills are vital to navigating our modern world, so I’m delighted to have brought this free training day to local people and businesses in Swansea. It’s fantastic to see so many getting involved learning how to use new technologies like social media and artificial intelligence to their full potential, while developing their connections in Swansea’s offline community too.”
“Whether by attending brilliant programmes like today’s Digital Garage or making use of the UK Government’s free AI training courses for adults, I’d urge everyone to make use of the support available to navigate our rapidly changing world.”
